Build in Denim

Technical designs for New Star Jeans, Basic Fancy Line B.V.

Every pair of jeans starts as a drawing, and that drawing has to be right. At New Star Jeans, a Dutch denim company, I designed men's and women's collections from first idea to sample, starting in product development and moving into design.

A collection began with trend research, concepts and colour cards, and took shape in the details: the curve of a pocket, the placement of a rivet, the weight of a topstitch. I translated each design into precise technical drawings and specifications, so that fabrics, trims, washes and artworks came together exactly as intended. Sample by sample, I reviewed fit and finish until the drawing and the garment matched.

These drawings show how I think as a designer: in silhouette and in detail, always with the finished product in mind.

Role: Collection design, technical drawings and specifications, fabric, trim and wash selection, artwork development and sample review.
